SWAN RIVER DAISY

Brachycome iberidifolia is an elegant little daisy useful for ground cover during the summer months. It has very finely divided foliage, and neat daisies in white, pinks, blues, mauves and purples, sometimes with a yellow and sometimes with a black centre.

The cultivars in the Splendour Series are delightful brachycomes to grow from seed. The blue, pink, or white daisy-like flowers are produced throughout the summer. They appear above delicate foliage, with which they form a compact plant about 14 in high. It looks best as an edging plant, but also goes well with other annuals in a cheerful, informal summer border. The small plants are also used frequently in pots and containers, but, above all, in hanging baskets, where they sway elegantly in the breeze. They are also very hardy and undemanding. The only thing that they do not tolerate is stagnating moisture.

The flowers are about 1/4 in wide and delightfully fragrant, thus attracting many bees. They come in white and every imaginable shade of pink and blue. Brachycome iberidifolia ‘Blue Splendor’ has violet-blue flowers, and Brachycome iberidifolia ‘Purple Splendor’ purplish pink ones.

Flowering annual daisy with lacy compound leaves. Flowers bloom until late fall in shades of blue, white, or pink. Delicately fragrant. Remove dead flowers to promote flowering. Good balcony or patio container plant or hanging basket.
