Adonis aestivalis: Summer Adonis

SUMMER ADONIS
The fernlike foliage of the summer adonis forms magnificent green tufts which grow about 12-16 in tall. The crimson flowers, 3/4~l’/4 in wide, appear at the end of the shoots from May until well into August. The centers are jet-black.
All parts of the plant are toxic and the substances in them have a medicinal use. Sow in a permanent position in nutrititive, preferably loamy soil in early spring. The plants like a sunny position and will languish in permanently wet earth.
Adonis aestivalis (Summer pheasant’s-eye) is a medicinal and ornamental plant. It is native to Europe but has been introduced elsewhere, such as the western and eastern parts of the United States.
Adonis aestivalis is a plant tha is suitable for flower bed. This plant does also well in border and is also suitable for pots or window boxes.
