This Landman fire pit features stars and moons wall cutouts which show the flickering fire inside. It also have a Georgia clay finish that imparts a rustic ambiance as well as makes it withstand the heat and weather for years and years of use. The cutouts on its walls lend a unique atmosphere with its see-through glimmers of fire. The durable steel construction of this fire pit makes it stable for holding wood to burn throughout the night. The pit offers 360-degree view of the fire so that everyone can circle around and enjoy the warmth and crackle of open flame. RED FLAX
When red flax starts flowering in June, it seems as if it will never stop. Small pink flowers with darker centers continually open out into saucers almost 1V4 in wide, hence the attribute “large-flowered.” Several cultivars have been developed from the species, of which Linum grandiflorum ‘Bright Eyes’ is, in my opinion, by far the most beautiful. Sow the seed directly in the garden in April-May, preferably in well-drained, nutritive soil. Red flax likes a warm and sunny position. The stems, about 12-16 in tall, are suitable for cutting and drying. You can harvest your own seed from it and enjoy this magnificent plant for many more years to come.

Tips on Gardening by Mail From Garden Catalogs, Mail Order or Order Online

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

A lot of gardeners are hesitant to order plants from catalogs or order online. This is because they want to see personally what they buy, they want to inspect the plants before buying which is reasonable enough. When buying from nurseries, garden clubs and plant stores, you can see and inspect the plants, you can also select the perfect time to purchase the plants in time for its perfect planting time. The down side of this is that often the choices are limited and most often than not, the choices are the same year after year. This is okay if you want to have the same kinds of plants every year. This is where buying plants from catalogs and online come in. Catalogs and online stores offer a wide variety of plants to choose from. Aside from this, they offer money-back guarantees. Very often these companies allow you to pick your own shipping date, which is great because you don’t want the plants to arrive weeks before the ideal planting time, or worse yet, during a time when you happen to be on vacation.

ANGELS’ TRUMPETS

The white-flowered variety of Datura metel is particularly beautiful. The flowers grow up to 8 in long and are pertly upright. There are other colors as well, even among those growing wild, including purple, violet, and yellow. Datura metel Tlore Pleno’ has purple double flowers tinged with white. The species itself stems from Asia, but is to be found both as a garden plant and a weed in many subtropical regions nowadays. The entire plant is highly toxic. Although the stems with their soft, downy leaves can grow to 5 ft tall, the plant usually remains much in cooler climates, particularly when grown in a container.
